Methods & Equipment Associates was founded in 1962 by two graduate engineers of GMI (General Motors Institute). Mr. James Shaughnessy and Mr. Wayne Smith left the employment of the worlds' largest manufacturing corporation to sell industrial products manufactured by the Wisconsin Drill Head Company. Shortly thereafter, Mr. F.A. (Bud) Miller sold his manufacturing firm in Pinckney, Michigan and became a partner in the fledgling enterprise. The Methods & Equipment partners soon became the top producing distributor of Wisconsin Drill Head products in the USA. Since that time Methods & Equipment Associates has grown continuously and currently represents over 20 premier machine tool builders. The partners had a business model
unique to the machine tool distribution business, employee ownership.
Employee ownership fosters long term customer relationships rather than short
term sales orders. Employee ownership remains a cornerstone of the
